Housing Industry Forecasting Group

The Housing Industry Forecasting Group (HIFG) is a joint industry and government body providing independent commentary and forecasts on the housing sector in Western Australia. HIFG reports can be found at

Affordability reports

A series of reports prepared by Housing, with support from Shelter WA and the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia (REIWA). These reports present in-depth research on both rental and purchase affordability, and types of affordable product available in the Perth metropolitan area.

Quarterly updates on economic conditions, with a focus on factors affecting the housing market and housing affordability.This publication is currently on hold until further notice.

Demand model

The demand model is an estimate of unmet demand for social and affordable housing at the time of the 2016 Census.
