Your tenancy agreement sets out the legal rights and responsibilities between you and the Department of Communities (Communities). Additionally, all tenants and landlords must
comply with the Residential Tenancies Act 1987.
Your rights include:
- being provided with a copy of your tenancy agreement at the start of your tenancy
- being provided with a vacant property that is in a reasonable state of cleanliness and repair at the start of your tenancy
- being given written notice before carrying out inspections
- having maintenance and repair of the premises carried out in a timely manner
- having adequate security and a working smoke alarm at your property
- quiet enjoyment of the property during your tenancy
