Through the process of community meetings laid out in the Department of Communities' protocol on Ascertaining the Wishes of Aboriginal Inhabitants, the community and the Department identified who and for what reasons a person may be eligible to apply for housing in the community.
It can also identify who may NOT apply for housing in the community, and is identified in Annexure A of the Housing Management Agreement (HMA).
An example of an applicant being eligible to apply is that they must be over 18 years of age and have a family or language connection to the community.
An example of an applicant not being eligible to apply is if they have an outstanding debt to the Department, the Aboriginal Organisation that manages the housing or the Community Council.
Ask your Housing Officer what the eligibility policy is for your community, as detailed in your HMA.
